Agamyradow hails brave Turkmenistan players

Tashkent: An emotional Ahmet Agamyradow hailed his players as Turkmenistan made their AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 exit on Saturday.

The debutant side’s dream run was ended in cruel fashion as a 74th minute own goal by Oraz Orazov saw Australia advance to the semi-finals at Turkmenistan’s expense.

Having impressed in their debut campaign, Agamyradow was disappointed with Turkmenistan’s exit but said his players had given the tournament their all.

Australia end Turkmenistan's run to book semi-final spot

Tashkent: Australia advanced to the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 semi-finals with a 1-0 win over a valiant Turkmenistan on Saturday. 

After a goalless first half at the Bunyodkor Stadium, Australia sealed victory through an own goal by Oraz Orazov in the 74th minute with the Olyroos to face either Saudi Arabia or Vietnam, in the semi-finals.

Uzbekistan edge Iraq on penalties to seal last four berth

Tashkent: Uzbekistan advanced to the semi-finals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 after defeating Iraq 3-2 on penalties with the pulsating last eight tie having ended 2-2 after extra-time on Saturday.

Uzbekistan proved to be the more composed side in the shootout, advancing to their third consecutive semi-finals despite having played for more than 105 minutes with 10 men. They will play either Japan or Korea Republic in the last four.
