The match was headed for a goalless first half but Al Yami stunned Tajikistan three minutes from the half-time whistle with an audacious backheel which led to the floodgates being opened in the second half.
The big win means Saudi Arabia lead the standings ahead of Japan, who defeated United Arab Emirates 2-1, with the two teams to face off on Monday.

UAE had the brighter start at the Pakhtakor Stadium, but Japan gradually took a hold on the match to open the scoring through Yuito Suzuki in the 61st minute, with Yaser Alblooshi equalising two minutes later.
The West Asians then missed an opportunity to turn the tide from a penalty kick, with Mao Hosoya then heading home the winner in the 76th minute.
