Group D: Japan, Saudi Arabia settle for entertaining draw
Tashkent: Japan and Saudi Arabia played to a thrilling 0-0 stalemate in Group D of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 on Monday.
Japan, who ended the match with 10 men following Shota Fujio's sending off in the 79th minute, had the better chances at the start with Saudi Arabia finishing strongly but neither side could find the finishing touch at the Pakhtakor Stadium.
Group D: UAE defeat Tajikistan to get back on track
Tashkent: United Arab Emirates breathed life into their AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 Group D campaign after beating Tajikistan 2-0 on Monday.
Abdelaziz Mohamed opened the scoring with his 12th minute strike, with the UAE weathering a Tajikistan fightback in the second half before substitute Mansoor Saeed converted a penalty in the 78th minute to seal the points.
The win means UAE will advance to the knockout stage if they defeat Saudi Arabia in their final match while Tajikistan will play for pride against 2016 champions Japan, who are also still in the running for the quarter-finals.

Vietnam’s Gong, Korea Republic’s Hwang satisfied after fighting draw
Tashkent: Head coach Gong Oh-kyun was proud of Vietnam for rising up to challenge against AFC U23 Asian Cup™ defending champions Korea Republic, but was disappointed not to have taken full advantage against the 10-man side.
Substitute Cho Young-wook scored his third goal of the tournament in the 63rd minute to hand Korea Republic the lead, who were then reduced to 10 men when Lee Jin-yong was sent off 15 minutes later with Vu Tien Long’s impressive strike in the 83rd sealing a point for Vietnam.
