Qualifiers - Group D: Uzbekistan fight back to hold Saudi Arabia

Tashkent: Uzbekistan twice came back from a goal down to salvage a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia in their opening Group D tie of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2020 Qualifiers on Wednesday. 

Twice Saudi Arabia led, only to be pegged back by a gritty Uzbekistan in a pulsating tie which doesn't harm the West Asian side's chances as the 2022 tournament hosts are playing in the Qualifiers for exposure.

Saudi Arabia's real test comes on Saturday when they play Kuwait, who defeated  Bangladesh 1-0 in their opening tie on Wednesday.

At stake are 15 places to Uzbekistan 2022 with the 11 group winners and four best runners-up to advance.

Korea Republic fall to United States

​​Seoul: Korea Republic suffered a 6-0 defeat to the United States in the last of their two women's friendlies at the Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Tuesday.

Five players scored once each for the United States with Korea Republic's Cho Su-hyun conceding an own goal as the Americans turned on the power in Carli Lloyd's final match in American colours.

Colin Bell’s side have now accumulated four draws and 11 losses against the United States.

Korea Republic, ranked 18th, held the world champions to a goalless draw in Kansas City last Thursday.

Qualifiers - Group G: Australia hold off Indonesia fightback for victory

Dushanbe: Australia survived a late Indonesian revival to secure a 3-2 win in their opening AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Group G qualifying tie on Tuesday.

The two teams will meet again on Friday, with Australia needing to avoid defeat to secure a fifth consecutive appearance in the Finals.

Qualifiers - Group K: Japan sizzle in win over Cambodia

Futaba: Japan got their AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 qualifying campaign off to a great start with a 4-0 win over Cambodia at the J-Village Stadium on Tuesday.

Koichi Togashi’s side scored two goals in either half to secure victory and will top Group K by avoiding defeat against Hong Kong - who lost their opener 4-2 to Cambodia - on Thursday.

Cambodia’s hopes of advancing to Uzbekistan 2022 now depend on finishing as one of the best four runners-up.
