Qualifiers - Group A: Qatar, Syria kick off in style
Doha: Qatar and Syria enjoyed opening day wins over Yemen and Sri Lanka respectively in Group A of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers on Monday.
Two first half goals coupled with Khaled Mohammed's wonder strike in the 63rd minute saw Qatar emerge victorious against Yemen while Syria were equally impressive in their 5-0 win over Sri Lanka at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Qatar will face Sri Lanka next on Thursday, while Yemen must bounce back strongly against Syria if they are to stay in contention for a place in Uzbekistan 2022.
Qualifiers - Group B: IR Iran, Tajikistan take maximum points on day one
Dushanbe: Islamic Republic of Iran made a winning start to their campaign by overpowering Nepal to win 4-0 while Tajikistan left it late to beat Lebanon as qualifying Group B for AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 got underway on Monday
Both teams will now set their sights on winning their Matchday Two ties, with Iran to play Lebanon and Tajikistan to face Nepal before the two pacesetters face off on Sunday.

Kyrgyz Republic kicked off their bid to qualify for Uzbekistan 2022 with a come from behind 2-1 win over hosts UAE at the Fujairah Stadium with India defeating Oman with a similar score in Group E's second match.
Qualifiers - Group H: Winning start for Korea Republic in title defence; Singapore, Timor-Leste settle for draw
Singapore: Korea Republic opened their AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win over Philippines in Group H action on Monday, while Singapore fought back to salvage a 2-2 draw with Timor-Leste in the day’s later match.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, the young Taeguk Warriors turned on the power in the second half with three players finding the back of the net to secure the points at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Singapore came back from a goal down after opening the scoring against Timor-Leste to a 2-2 draw, as both sides secured a point on the opening day.
Qualifiers - Group J: Mongolia share points with Thailand, Malaysia defeat Laos
Ulaanbaatar: Mongolia came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Thailand while Malaysia beat Laos 1-0 in their opening AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Group J qualifying ties at the MFF Stadium on Monday.
The win gives Malaysia an early advantage in qualifying for Uzbekistan 2022 with only the group winners assured of advancing.
Malaysia will target their second win when they play Mongolia on Thursday while Thailand and Laos will be aiming for their opening victories.
