Group B: UAE top group; Yemen sign off in style

Jeddah: United Arab Emirates secured top spot in Group B of the Gulf Cup 2026 after playing to a 1-1 draw with Qatar on Wednesday.

Both sides finished on seven points, with UAE taking first place on goal difference to set up a semi-final against Oman, while Qatar will face Group A winners Saudi Arabia. 

Yemen, meanwhile, ended their campaign on a high with an emphatic 5-2 victory over defending champions Bahrain.

Jeddah: Qatar and the United Arab Emirates confirmed their spots in the Gulf Cup 2026 semi-finals after securing their second straight victories in Group B on Sunday.

Qatar defeated Yemen 1-0 while UAE were 3-0 winners against Bahrain with both on six points and meet on Wednesday to decide who tops the group.

Phnom Penh: Japan put on another masterful display to beat Yemen 4-0 in Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Sunday and book their place in next year’s Finals.

The 2016 champions closed their campaign with a maximum nine points, netting 16 goals and conceding none while in the later match, Kuwait breezed past Cambodia 5-0 to chalk up their first three points and finish in second ahead of Yemen and the Southeast Asian side on goal difference.

Phnom Penh: Japan placed themselves in pole position in Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers with an 8-0 win against Cambodia on Thursday.

With two wins, Japan only have to avoid defeat against Yemen on Sunday to confirm their ticket to the Finals.

Yemen revived their hopes with a 3-1 win against Kuwait in the earlier match.

Uzbekistan 2027 hopefuls discover qualification path

Kuala Lumpur: Teams aiming to vie for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027™ title discovered their Qualifiers challenge following the Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 35 teams were divided into seven groups of five to contest a single round-robin centralised league for the qualifying rounds that run from November 8 to 20, 2026.

The seven group winners will join the nine AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 who have automatically qualified - Australia, China PR, Japan (defending champions), Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam - in the Finals.

Doha: Nasser Al Gahwashi struck both goals as Yemen completed the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ cast after defeating Lebanon 2-0 in their Qualifiers Final Round Group B match on Thursday.

Yemen, who topped the group with 14 points and will be making a return to the continental stage after missing out on the 2023 edition, will square off against Korea Republic, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam in Group E of the Finals.
