Football 4 Good initiative empowers youth in Lebanon

Beirut: The Lebanese Football Association (LFA), with the support of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, has successfully completed the second edition of the Football 4 Good programme, reaching more than 7,000 boys and girls, including youth with special needs across the country.

Conducted from February to July 2025, the Football 4 Good initiative not only impacted the capital city of Beirut but also successfully touched lives across eight locations, spanning Mount Lebanon, Tyre and Nabatieh in the southern part of the country, the northern regions of Tripoli and Akkar, as well as the Beqaa and Baalbek areas.

Chittagong: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), conducted the Empowering Hill Women to Pursue Football Careers programme across the districts of Bandarban, Rangamati, and Khagrachari in January 2025.

Spanning four days, the event aimed to maximise the capabilities of the community’s women by introducing them to career pathways in football, with a strong emphasis on education and child safeguarding.

New York: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to harnessing the power of football to drive positive change in society at the United Nations (UN) Football for the Goals (FFTG) Forum, held on May 21, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York, the United States of America.

Titled Champions for Change: Football and the UN Unite for the SDGs, the Forum served as a precursor to the inaugural FIFA World Football Week and highlighted the sport’s unique ability to promote and support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Japan FA boosts mental health awareness with landmark initiative

Osaka: As part of a drive to ensure that football remains all-inclusive, the Japan Football Association (JFA) launched the inaugural Mental Health Asian Football Programme in Sakai City, Osaka earlier this year from January 15 to 18.

Supported by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, the landmark initiative comprised the Dream Asia Cup 2025, a futsal tournament, as well as an international conference and two symposiums that ran alongside the competition.
