Expanded AFC Child Safeguarding and Protection Policy to provide more comprehensive guidance

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today underlined its unwavering commitment to protecting the rights, safety and well-being of children and young people engaging in football across the Continent by launching the latest edition of the AFC Child Safeguarding and Protection Policy.

Building on the landmark Child Safeguarding Policy that was introduced in 2022, the 2026 edition has been expanded to encompass all AFC competitions, events and digital platforms. This recognises football’s evolving environments while ensuring that comprehensive and responsive safeguarding measures are in place for any child or youth within the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs), as well as the larger Asian football community.

WAFF seminar strengthens child safeguarding practices

Jeddah: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) joined hands with the West Asian Football Confederation (WAFF) to conduct a child safeguarding seminar from November 25 to 26 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Taking place on the sidelines of the 9th WAFF Women’s Football Championship, where Jordan defeated Palestine to claim their seventh title, the seminar was attended by safeguarding officers and other representatives from the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), Iraqi Football Association (IFA), Jordan Football Association (JFA), Lebanese Football Association (LFA), Qatar Football Association (QFA), Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), and the Yemen Football Association (YFA).

CAFA Child Safeguarding Seminar 2025 reiterates commitment to child protection

Tashkent: The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), with the support of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) successfully conducted the CAFA Child Safeguarding Seminar 2025 from May 30 to 31 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, further strengthening the Confederation’s commitment to child protection in football.

The two-day seminar, attended by safeguarding officers and youth competition managers from all six CAFA Member Associations (MAs), was an excellent opportunity for participants to acquaint themselves with the latest best practices for the protection of children from harm, abuse, and exploitation.

SAFF Competition Safeguarding Seminar 2024 successfully concludes in Colombo

Colombo: The commitment of the Asian football family to uphold the best practices in child safeguarding was further reinforced after the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) hosted its highly impactful Competition Safeguarding Seminar 2024 from November 19 to 20 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Purposefully curated to uplift the child safeguarding standards across the South Asian region, the seminar brought together safeguarding officers and representatives from all seven Member Associations (MAs), who were presented with invaluable insights from experts from FIFA and the AFC.

EAFF raises awareness on Child Safeguarding at EAFF U15 Women's Championship

Dalian: The East Asian Football Federation (EAFF), in collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), took a significant step forward in enhancing its child safeguarding measures when it conducted its inaugural Child Safeguarding Seminar from August 17 to 18, 2024 in the port city of Dalian in China PR.

Hosted during the EAFF U15 Women's Championship 2024, the event was also supported by tournament hosts, the Chinese Football Association (CFA), and was attended by footballers and officials from all 10 Member Associations (MAs) of the East region. - China PR, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Guam, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea Republic, Macau, Mongolia and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Participants benefit from MFF’s Safeguarding Workshop

Yangon: In observance of International Women’s Day, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) organised the MFF Safeguarding Workshop on March 7, 2024. 

Attended by 60 participants, ranging from coaches, Physical Education teachers, referees, as well as players, the workshop aimed to shed light on the integral role that safeguarding plays in nurturing a safe environment for youngsters to enjoy football, as well as other sports.
