Experts share technical insights at AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Online Session

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Online Session took place on Tuesday, bringing together technicians from across the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Member Associations (MAs) to reflect on a milestone edition of the competition that concluded earlier this year.

Staged across the cities of Jeddah and Riyadh from January 6 to 24, the seventh edition marked the last instance of it being played in a non-Olympic year, with the tournament set to be hosted quadrennially as Asia’s official Olympic qualifying platform from 2028 onwards.

Taking place from December 1 to 5, the programme included Coach Educators from across Asia who will underwent an intensive educational journey designed to equip them with the necessary skills to deliver and improve AFC Pro Licence courses in their respective Member Associations (MAs).

Spotlight on goalkeeping trends at AFC Coach Education Online Session 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reiterated its commitment to enhancing technical development by hosting the AFC Coach Education Online Session 2025 on Tuesday, to discuss the rapidly evolving role of goalkeepers in the modern game.

The virtual programme was attended by 102 coach educators and goalkeeping experts, who had the opportunity to hear from global experts such as former Celtic FC and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Patrick Bonner, as well as Pascal Zuberbühler, who has plied his trade for several reputed clubs in Europe, including Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, and FC Basel. Both appeared in Euro and World Cup Final Tournaments.

A joint initiative between the AFC and the Japan Football Association (JFA), the course was designed to raise the coaching and leadership capacities of elite female coaches across the Continent.
