Shahrzad Mozafar: Leading IR Iran’s futsal dream on the global stage

Kuala Lumpur: In the latest episode of the Confederation’s It’s My Game campaign, the spotlight falls on Shahrzad Mozafar, who is set to lead the Islamic Republic of Iran women’s futsal national team at the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup™ Philippines 2025, taking place from November 21 to December 5.

Few names carry more weight in women’s futsal than Mozafar’s. A national icon in every sense, she famously guided IR Iran to their second Continental crown at the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship™ 2018, cementing her status as one of Asia’s most respected coaches.

Kuala Lumpur: As the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 kicks off in two weeks’ time, Kyrgyz Republic’s Veronika Bernatskaia takes centre stage in the latest edition of the Confederation’s It’s My Game campaign as she prepares to officiate as one of six Asian referees appointed to the competition.

Bernatskaia’s encounter with football may have started in the most conventional sense – joining her friends in school for a quick game and rising through the ranks to represent the national team eventually.

AFC WAP visit boosts women’s football development in Kyrgyz Republic

Bishkek: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) further underlined its commitment to advancing women’s football across Asia when it conducted a visit to Bishkek, capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic, under the AFC Women’s Assistance Programme (WAP) earlier this month.

Taking place between April 3 and 5, the visit was led by AFC Head of Women’s Football Bai Lili and focused on understanding the landscape of the women’s game in the region, strengthening ties with The Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU), and supporting the country’s growing ambition to elevate women’s football at all levels.

It’s My Game: Park Youn-jeong’s quest to shape tomorrow’s talents

Kuala Lumpur: In the first episode of the Confederation’s “It’s My Game” campaign for 2025, the-AFC.com shines the spotlight on Park Youn-jeong, head coach of Korea Republic’s U20 women’s national team and recipient of the AFC Coach of the Year (Women) award at the AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023.

Following her career as a centre-back for the likes of WK League sides Seoul WFC and Sejong Sportstoto, as well as Japan’s Albirex Niigata Ladies, Park turned her attention to coaching in 2011, starting with university teams before swiftly rising through the ranks to join the backroom staff of the Korea Republic U17 women’s national team in 2019.
