Seoul’s winning desire a delight for Lingard

Shanghai: Jesse Lingard paid tribute to FC Seoul’s determination and spirit after they picked up a 3-1 win against Shanghai Port FC in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie on Tuesday.

Lingard scored twice to help the Korea Republic outfit move up to eight points in the East Zone with the former Manchester United midfielder showering praise for his teammates who worked hard for each other.

Melbourne:  Aurelio Vidmar couldn’t have been prouder of his Melbourne City FC side after they secured a third straight win in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 with a 2-0 success against Johor Darul Ta’zim on Tuesday.

Scoring at the start and end of the game through Max Caputo and Medin Memeti, Vidmar admitted what came in between required a show of strength and fortitude as the Australian side went a step closer to a spot in the Round of 16.

Shanghai: Jesse Lingard struck twice as FC Seoul handed Shanghai Port FC a 3-1 defeat at Pudong Football Stadium on Tuesday to boost the K League side’s hopes of a place in the next stage of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26.

The former Manchester United attacker gave his side the lead in the 48th minute and set up Lucas Silva to restore FC Seoul’s advantage in the 61st minute after Mateus Vital had levelled for the Chinese Super League champions.

Lingard put the seal on the win with 13 minutes remaining to take FC Seoul onto eight points from their opening five games in the East Zone while Shanghai Port remain rooted to the bottom on a solitary point.

Caputo’s goal and a strong showing between the posts by goalkeeper Patrick Beach earned Aurelio Vidmar’s side a win that was sealed in stoppage time by Medin Memeti’s strike as the Australians climb the East Zone standings.

Victory moves City onto nine points from five matches, with the win taking the A-League champions two points clear of Malaysia Super League winners JDT.
