Yangon: Keita Kosugi was relieved to see Japan come through a tough test against Myanmar in their AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers tie but the captain is keen to see improvements in Tuesday’s decider against Kuwait.

Saturday’s last-gasp 2-1 win against Myanmar kept defending champions Japan top of the standings in Group B, two points ahead of Kuwait with only top spot guaranteed a place in the Finals.

Son stars as Korea Republic beat USA; Japan, Mexico draw

New York: Son Heung-min scored one goal and set up another to spark Korea Republic's 2-0 victory over the United States in an international football friendly on Saturday.

The matchup between two teams bound for the 2026 World Cup was played at Harrison, New Jersey, in the home stadium of MLS's New York Red Bulls.

 

Son scored in the 18th minute and Lee Dong-gyeong added another in the 43rd to secure Korea Republic's triumph against a US side coached by Mauricio Pochettino - Son's former boss at Tottenham Hotspur.
