Group A: United Arab Emirates 1-1 DPR Korea

Al Ain: A fighting DPR Korea held United Arab Emirates to a 1-1 draw in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group A tie at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on Thursday.

Yahya Al Ghassani struck in the 66th minute to open the scoring with goalkeeper Khalid Eisa keeping out Han Kwang Song’s spot-kick, only for Jong Il Gwan to level the tie late in the game.

#AsianQualifiers - MD3: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: Japan were the big winners as Matchday Three of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 came to a close on Thursday.

A 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia in Jeddah means Japan have opened a five-point gap at the top of the Group C standings.

Korea Republic would also have been satisfied with their night's work as their 2-0 defeat of Jordan in Group B not only avenged their loss to the West Asian side in the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ but also kept them on track for an 11th successive appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

The face-off between Group A pacesetters Uzbekistan and Islamic Republic of Iran ended in a goalless draw, with both teams moving to seven points.

Group A: Qatar 3-1 Kyrgyz Republic

Doha: AFC Asian Cup™ holders Qatar secured their first win of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 on Thursday as Tintin Marquez’s side handed Kyrgyz Republic a 3-1 defeat in Group A at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.

Almoez Ali put the Qataris in front in the 39th minute before an own goal from Tamirlan Kozubaev 18 minutes into the second half put the back-to-back Asian champions in control of the tie.

And while Alimardon Shukurov pulled one back with 14 minutes remaining, Ibrahim Al Hassan restored his side’s two goal cushion five minutes later to seal the win for Qatar, who had lost their opener to the United Arab Emirates and drawn with DPR Korea.

Kyrgyz Republic are still looking for their first point of the third phase of the preliminaries after earlier losses to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uzbekistan and Maksim Lisitsyn’s side are bottom of the Group A standings.

Group B: Oman 4-0 Kuwait

Muscat: Oman produced their best to defeat Kuwait 4-0 in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group B tie at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Thursday.

The win ended Oman's two-match losing runk while Kuwait are still in search of a first victory after having opened their campaign with two draws.

Group A: Uzbekistan 0-0 IR Iran

Tashkent: Uzbekistan and Islamic Republic of Iran settled for a goalless draw in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group A tie on Thursday.

The Central Asian derby saw Iran going down to 10 men in the second half following Saleh Hardani's sending off but there was to be no winner in the evenly-matched contest as the two sides moved up to seven points.

Amman: Korea Republic produced a clinical performance to defeat Jordan 2-0 in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group B tie at the Amman International Stadium on Thursday.

Lee Jae-Sung’s header separated the sides going into the break before Oh Hyeon-gyu sealed the win in the second half for Hong Myung-bo’s men as they exacted revenge for their loss to Jordan in the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ and, more importantly, stay well on track for an 11th successive appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

Group C: Australia 3-1 China PR

Adelaide: Tony Popovic’s reign as Australia head coach started with a win on Thursday as the Socceroos fought back from going a goal behind to hand China PR a 3-1 defeat at the Adelaide Oval in Group C of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26.

The win was Australia’s first of the campaign after losing to Bahrain and drawing with Indonesia in September and came when goals from Lewis Millar and Craig Goodwin cancelled out Xie Wenning’s 20th minute opener for the visitors with debutant Nishan Velupillay adding a third in stoppage time.

The result also leaves China PR rooted to the bottom of Group C without a point, the loss a third in a row for Branko Ivankovic’s side after defeats in September against Japan and Saudi Arabia.
