Saudi Arabia part ways with Mancini

Riyadh: The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) said it was ending the contract of national coach Roberto Mancini after 14 months in the job on Thursday.

SAFF has reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Mancini, 59, who signed a deal until 2027 in August last year, a statement said.

Soreang: Persib Bandung held on to claim their first point in Group F despite playing most of the second half with 10 men as the Indonesians shared a 1-1 draw with Singapore’s Lion City Sailors in the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 on Thursday.

Dimas Drajad was sent off in the 52nd minute for headbutting Lion City captain Bailey Wright, who had cancelled out Tyronne del Pino’s 43rd minute opener within four minutes of the restart after the interval.

Persib remain bottom of the Group F standings despite the result as Bojan Hodak’s side avoided defeat for the first time in the competition while Lion City move onto four points having played only twice following the postponement of their earlier game with Port FC.

Hong Kong: Bassel Jradi scored the only goal of the game as Bangkok United continued their unbeaten start in Group G of the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 on Thursday with a 1-0 win over Hong Kong Premier League champions Lee Man at Mongkok Stadium.

Jradi netted in the 28th minute to earn Totchtawan Sripan’s side a second win in three games and, having also drawn with Nam Dinh on Matchday Two, the Thai League 1 outfit sit on top of the standings at the halfway stage with seven points.

Lee Man, by contrast, have yet to pick up a point but were unfortunate to come away with nothing once more after an encouraging display in which Hong Kong, China international Everton Camargo hit the post in the first half.
