Bangladesh to take winning form into Qatar tie

Dhaka: Bangladesh will head into their Asian Qualifiers match against Qatar next week on a high after scoring a second successive triumph over Bhutan in an international friendly on Thursday.

Bangladesh followed up Sunday's 4-1 win over the South Asians with a 2-0 triumph on Thursday as centre-back Yeasin Khan fired a brace at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

With fixtures against Qatar and India looming in their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifying campaign, Day was pleased his side will take winning form into the challenging fixtures.

Bangladesh lifted by win over Bhutan

Dhaka: Bangladesh warmed up for the next round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 with a 4-1 win over Bhutan in the first of two international friendlies at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

A first half brace from Abahani Limited Dhaka stiker Nabib Newaj Jibon gave Bangladesh a two-goal cushion before goals from Biplo Ahmed and substitute Rabiul Hasan in the second half put the game beyond Bhutan's reach.

Dushanbe: Farshad Noor's first half strike proved to be enough for Afghanistan to claim a 1-0 win over Bangladesh in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 on Tuesday. 

The win was a perfect response from an Afghanistan side that had lost 6-0 to Qatar on Matchday One.

Anoush Dastgir’s side kept Bangladesh pressed in defence and took the lead in the 27th minute with Omid Popalzay sending a cross into the box which Noor headed home to break the deadlock.

Borkelmans names Jordan squad for upcoming matches

Amman: National team head coach Vital Borkelmans has announced a 28-man squad ahead of Jordan’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers against Kuwait and Nepal.

Jordan, who will face Singapore in a friendly on Saturday, are set to host Kuwait at the Amman International Stadium on October 10, before playing Nepal at the same venue five days later.
