Tehran: Alireza Jahanbakhsh will miss Islamic Republic of Iran's next two Asian Qualifiers' matches after the attacker was left out of the squad by head coach Marc Wilmots.
The Brighton & Hove Albion FC attacker was the conspicuous name absent from the squad announced by Wilmots to face Cambodia and Bahrain in Group C of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifying.

Hong Kong: Sardar Azmoun and Karim Ansarifard scored a goal apiece as the Islamic Republic of Iran made a winning start to their Asian Qualifiers campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 with a 2-0 win over a resolute Hong Kong on Tuesday.
Azmoun gave Marc Wilmots’ side the lead in the 23rd minute and Ansarifard put the result beyond doubt for the Iranians nine minutes into the second half as the West Asians started life in Group C with all three points.

Amman: Jordan played to a goalless draw with Singapore in an international friendly match at Amman International Stadium on Saturday as both teams prepare for their respective Asian Qualifiers' campaigns.
Jordan had the better of the chances but failed to find a way past the Singapore defence.
Abdallah Al Attar and Ward Al Barri saw their efforts go wide in the opening minutes while Nooraldeen Al Rawabdeh also failed to find the target when he broke through just before the half-time break.

Damascus: Striker and 2017 AFC Player of the Year Omar Khribin has been recalled by Syria after head coach Fajr Ibrahim announced a 23-player squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers against Maldives and Guam.
The 25-year-old forward last played for Syria against Australia in January’s 2019 AFC Asian Cup and missed the first match of his country’s latest international campaign against Philippines – a game the West Asians won 5-2.
In addition to Khribin, there were also recalls for defender Moayad Ajan and midfielder Osama Omari, both of who are returning to national team duty after lengthy absences.
