Facing a Saudi side ranked 31 places above them in the latest FIFA rankings, 101th Palestine dominated from start to finish in front of a large home crowd, but ultimately could not convert their chances.
Singapore: Eldor Shomurodov's brace and an early Odil Ahmedov strike proved the difference as Uzbekistan beat Singapore 3-1 to add yet more momentum to their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers Group D campaign.
The outstanding Shomurodov struck twice after the break to ultimately seal the win for Vadim Abramov’s charges on a night when they were pushed all the way by their Southeast Asian hosts.

Toshev: Tajikistan took a step forward despite Japan defeat
Dushanbe: They may have suffered their first Asian Qualifiers defeat, but Tajikistan head coach Usmon Toshev believes his side showed how far they’ve come in Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Japan.
Buoyed by the confidence provided by wins over Kyrgyz Republic and Mongolia in their opening FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 matches, the Central Asians showed no fear against the four-time Asian champions, remaining well in the contest until Takumi Minamino scored twice in three second-half minutes before Takuma Asano added the final goal in the dying stages.
Tajikistan had lost 8-0 in the last Asian Qualifiers meeting between the sides in 2011, and, while this defeat saw them fall three points behind Japan, Toshev was looking beyond the result in his assessment of the match.
Bahrain deserved the win, says matchwinner Al Hardan
Manama: Bahrain matchwinner Mohamad Al Hardan believes his side thoroughly deserved Tuesday’s dramatic 1-0 win over the Islamic Republic of Iran in Group C of the Asian Qualifiers.
Al Hardan held his nerve to convert a decisive 65th minute penalty as Bahrain secured their second victory of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Cup China 2023 qualifying campaign.
With Iraq leading the way following their 4-0 defeat of Cambodia, the result sent Bahrain to second in the group standings, while Iran – reeling from their first World Cup qualifying loss in 24 matches – are third.
