Doha: Qatar's 2019 winning run against Asian teams was halted by India in the Asian Qualifiers on Tuesday and head coach Felix Sanchez was left rueing his team's bad luck.
It was a run which started in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 as Qatar, en route to lifting the title, defeated Asian giants Saudi Arabia, Korea Republic, United Arab Emirates and Japan.

Dushanbe: Farshad Noor's first half strike proved to be enough for Afghanistan to claim a 1-0 win over Bangladesh in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 on Tuesday.
The win was a perfect response from an Afghanistan side that had lost 6-0 to Qatar on Matchday One.
Anoush Dastgir’s side kept Bangladesh pressed in defence and took the lead in the 27th minute with Omid Popalzay sending a cross into the box which Noor headed home to break the deadlock.

Yangon: Japan’s Hajime Moriyasu was a satisfied head coach after his Japan side overcame both Myanmar and challenging weather conditions to begin their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers campaign with a 2-0 win on Tuesday.
On a warm, wet night in Yangon, early goals from Shoya Nakajima and Takumi Minamino paved the way to victory for Moiryasu’s charges, who avoided the type of slip up already suffered by several Continental powerhouses in the Second Round of the Asian Qualifiers.
With three points secured, Moriyasu – who led Japan to the AFC Asian Cup final in January – declared he was satisfied with his team’s win.

Malé: Decorated China PR head coach Marcello Lippi called on his side to remain focused after they began their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers campaign in fine style with a 5-0 win over the Maldives on Tuesday.
Lippi was rightly pleased after China PR - and history-making debutant Elkeson who netted two late goals - lived up to all expectations with a dominant victory in the island nation to move to the top of Group A on goal difference.
But Lippi, who famously led his native Italy to the FIFA World Cup title in 2006, said there is plenty of work ahead if his side are to achieve their primary objective of advancing to the next round of the Asian Qualifiers.
